What does Hiking Dykes do?
We walk!
Our walks are usually based within a one hour journey from central London.
Occasionally, our members may organise a camping trip, long-distance walk or weekend away staying in youth hostels, camping barns or B&Bs to which other members are invited. There are also sometimes opportunities to develop skills in map and compass work.
We meet socially every three months and members volunteer to lead walks. The number of walks and activities each quarter depends on how many members volunteer to organise them. Following this meeting, members receive an emailed newsletter with details of forthcoming walks and events, and one email each week with details of the next walk.

What kind of walks do we do?
The walks vary in length from about 5 to 15 miles, depending on the time of year and the interest of the walk organiser. They start from a railway station and many are circular. Members bring a packed lunch and there may be a pub or cafe stop en route. The walk leader will tell you the specific details of a walk in the email the week before.
Boys over 12 years are not allowed on walks. Children under 12 and girls over 12 are allowed on walks at the discretion of the walk organiser – please check beforehand. Children on walks are the responsibility of their carer(s).
Well-behaved dogs are welcome on walks unless the walk organiser states otherwise.
Who can join
Hiking Dykes is a walking group for lesbians. We welcome biological females who are same-sex attracted.
